Rubber has excellent solvent resistance, but different solvents require suitable materials.

Common solvents include trichloroethylene, methanol, methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, and ether.
Trichloroethylene: Used as a metal parts cleaner or dye solvent, fluorocarbon rubber is recommended for parts.
Methanol: Highly toxic, used as fuel, solvent, pesticide; styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) or EPDM is recommended for parts.
Methyl Ethyl Ketone: Used as an adhesive assistant or paint; EPDM is recommended for parts.
Ethyl Acetate: Used as a cleaning solvent, fragrance, or plastic coating; EPDM or chlorinated rubber is recommended for parts.
Ethoxyethane: Used as a non-polar organic solvent, anesthetic, or chemical reagent; polysulfide rubber is recommended for parts.
